Work Begins on Colorado School of Mines Residence Hall Renovations

May 12, 2015

Work started May 11, 2015, on renovations to four residence halls on the campus of the Colorado School of Mines.  MW GOLDEN CONSTRUCTORS was chosen as the design build firm on the project in early 2015, with KSQ Architects as its architectural partner.

The $3.7 million project will renovate the residence halls over a two summer time frame.  Randall and Morgan Halls will be completed in Summer 2015, with Bradford and Thomas Halls following in Summer 2016.  The four structures together comprise almost 80,000 square feet of interior space.  The work includes new texture, paint, carpet, doors and hardware, lighting, renovations to office space and four hall director suites, and cosmetic upgrades to dorm rooms.  Also included in the project are site drainage improvements, sewer line replacement, new windows, restroom renovations, and a fire sprinkler modernization.  The last major renovation of the buildings was completed in 1977, and a mechanical, electrical, and safety renovation was done in 2003.  Some minor cosmetic work to the dorm rooms has been ongoing since 2003.

KSQ Architects, PC, is performing design work for the project.  With offices in Colorado, Texas, Oklahoma, North Carolina, and New York, the firm assists clients across the country.  KSQ designed its first living/learning housing community in 1990.  Since that time, it has developed a national practice focused on the design of innovative environments.  With over $1 billion in construction for higher education facilities completed and more than 100,000 student beds designed on over 50 campuses, the firm’s professionals understand student housing.
